ACD and CWAs commence Environment and wildlife conservation programmes along the Sobat River,

Sobat Corridor,
With support from Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) and Elephant Crisis Fund (an initiative by Save the Elephants and the Wildlife Conservation Network), ACD staff and 15 CWAs commence the first ever wildlife conservation mission in the Sobat Corridor to set up camerat traps to help ascertain the presence, movements, challenges and opportunities to protect the African elephants, Nubian giraffes, African ions, Nile Lechwe, Mongalla gazelles and the biodiversity along the West bank of the Sobat River. The 10 days mission was a test of combined and team work and community responsibility to protect South Sudan`s most important biodiviersity habitat.Nine (9) camera traps were set up at four streams, two seasonal pools and three traditional elephant birth places. The camera data will be collected after one week. Several lion spoors and elephant tracks were observed and presence shall be confirmed by pictures.
