About Us

Agency for Conservation and Development was established to protect and conserve the ecosystem through protection and management of Game Reserves and the National Parks within the Sudd Ramsar and South Sudan. This is done through identification and training of Community Wildlife Ambassadors (CWAs) and Community Peace Advocates (CPAs) from within the communities and who conducts wildlife tracking and protection (Conservation), manage intra and inter-communal conflicts (peacebuilding) through dialogues, and provide alternative livelihoods options (Livelihoods) through training on safe fishing, prevention of bush burning, lobbying funds for women and youths small enterprise economies along the Nile Valleys.

Objectives

ACD’s key objective is to protect and conserve the beautiful wildlife species along the Sudd swamp (Panyikang, Shambe and Zeraff Game Reserves), other Game Reserves and National Parks in South Sudan where various birds, mammalian and reptile species thrive. The Agency achieves this through provision of alternative Livelihoods options and resolving recurrent intra and inter-communal conflicts (Peacebuilding).

Due to military and political transition of South Sudan since 2011, challenges to protect and conserve wildlife are enormous, but with personal call and commitment, nuance experiences, technical know-what, focus, dedication, above all-HOPE for a better country, ACD South Sudan and the communities for decades, continue advocating for peace, livelihoods and conserving wildlife, setting the bar high for conservation action, and education, enthusiastically driving steady processes in protecting wildlife and wild places for the biggest seasonal wildlife migration in the East African Nation.

The agency work with community members through conduct of trainings, awareness and campaigns against destruction of wildlife, convening conflict resolution processes and cultivating community-base assets to improve livelihoods options.
